Nike Honors Jackie Robinson Day With Special Cortez Sneakers

Nike is celebrating Jackie Robinson Day with a special version of the Cortez sneakers. This limited-edition pair is set to release on April 15, 2025, for $100 USD on Nike SNKRS.

The shoe honors Jackie Robinson — the first Black player in modern Major League Baseball — with thoughtful details. It features a white leather upper with beige suede accents around the heel, toe, and lace area. On the heel, you’ll see red stitching that looks like the threads on a baseball.

A black leather Nike Swoosh is outlined in shiny chrome, adding a stylish touch. Robinson’s famous #42 jersey number appears throughout the design — on the chrome tongue tag, heel stamps, and insoles. The insoles are extra special, showing #42 styled with logos from all MLB teams, since his number is the only one retired across the entire league.

The sneaker is finished off with a striped white midsole, herringbone outsole for grip, and white laces with silver lace tips (dubraes).

Jackie Robinson Day, celebrated every year on April 15, marks the day he broke baseball’s color barrier in 1947, playing for the Brooklyn Dodgers. He spent 10 amazing years in the league, was added to the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1962, and left a lasting legacy before his death in 1972.

This Cortez release is more than just a sneaker — it’s a tribute to a hero who changed the game forever.
