A fun sneaker that brings back Nintendo 64 memories.
Nike is bringing back gaming nostalgia with a new sneaker called the Nike Air Max 1 Low Poly “Big Head Mode.” This special release is part of Nike’s .SWOOSH collection and is inspired by the classic video game GoldenEye 007, which came out in 1997 for the Nintendo 64.
The sneaker will officially drop on April 7 through the Nike SNKRS app for $160 USD. It's available for pre-order, and once you order, it may take up to four months to ship.
The shoe design is playful and full of gaming references. It uses a sleek black and white color scheme to look like James Bond’s tuxedo, with gold accents that represent the famous Golden Gun from the game. One of the coolest parts is the pixel-style Swoosh, which gives it a blocky, video game vibe — a nod to the low-resolution look of old-school games.
The name “Big Head Mode” comes from a popular cheat in the game that made all characters’ heads look huge, adding a silly and fun twist to gameplay. That quirky, boxy charm is captured in the shoe’s unique design.
Before being sold in real life, the sneaker actually appeared in Fortnite, letting players wear it virtually before the physical release.
If you’re a fan of retro video games or just want a sneaker that stands out, this pair is a great pick. Mark your calendar for April 7, and get ready to pre-order on Nike SNKRS.
