New Balance has teamed up with Japanese fashion label BEAMS to release a special version of the New Balance 1000, and it’s far from ordinary. This all-black pair is designed to look simple at first glance, but a closer look reveals a creative and mismatched mix of materials.
The shoes feature a blend of mesh, ripstop fabric, microfiber, leather, and suede, but each side of the shoe uses these materials differently. One side might have smooth suede while the other uses shiny leather, making each shoe slightly different but still matching in color.
Even the “N” logos on the sides of the shoes are not exactly the same — each one has its own unique 3D look. While everything is dressed in solid black, the laces reflect light, adding a cool, futuristic touch. Inside the shoes, you’ll find co-branded insoles that use BEAMS’ signature color scheme.
The BEAMS x New Balance 1000 will first release at the BEAMS Pop-Up in Los Angeles on April 10. After that, it will be available online through BEAMS’ web store and at select stores.
