A stylish running shoe influenced by Japanese American artist Isamu Noguchi.
Bandit Running is stepping into new territory with its first-ever shoe collaboration, teaming up with ASICS to redesign the popular Novablast 5. This special release is inspired by the work of Isamu Noguchi, a famous Japanese American artist known for his paper lanterns and stone sculptures.
The sneaker comes in a soft off-white color, with see-through and sheer materials on the upper part of the shoe, which remind us of Noguchi’s handmade lanterns. The textured knit on the upper feels like stone, a nod to his sculptural works. On the side, taped overlays form an abstract version of the Bandit logo.
Small red accents appear on the heel, tongue, and insole, representing Noguchi’s signature red logo. You’ll also find a co-branded label near the toe and Japanese writing printed inside the shoe. For an artistic twist, the toe has a sewn-on industrial-style tag, and the tongue is pleated, adding a unique, sculptural feel.
Each pair comes with a custom Japanese ripstop drawstring bag and a see-through tag holder, making this release even more special.
Bandit members can buy the shoes early on April 3, while the general release is set for Friday, April 4 on the Bandit web store. Keep an eye out — this is more than a running shoe, it’s wearable art.
