MING Unveils Project 21 with a Rare Vintage Movement

A Limited Edition Watch with Just 15 Pieces Available

After launching the 37.09 Uni in January, MING is back with Project 21, a unique and highly exclusive timepiece. This watch was inspired by a challenge given to MING’s founder, Ming Thein, at a collector’s dinner in 2023—to design a watch for himself without any external constraints, aside from being practical to manufacture. With ten collectors backing the project, Thein set out to create something truly special.

A Legendary Movement

At the heart of Project 21 is the Frederic Piguet 21, a movement first introduced in 1925 and used by prestigious watchmakers like Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet. Known for its ultra-thin design and historical significance, this vintage movement makes the watch a true collector’s item.

Craftsmanship and Design

The movement is housed inside a 35mm monobloc case made of tantalum, a rare metal that is highly corrosion-resistant and extremely difficult to machine. The watch’s dial is equally impressive, featuring a 5N rose gold-coated surface with a multi-layered design, enclosed in a fused borosilicate layer. This sits above a CVD-coated brass plate, with finely etched indices that enhance its visual depth.

Limited Availability and Price

After successfully delivering the first ten pieces, MING has confirmed a limited release of just 15 more. Priced at 32,500 CHF (approximately $36,543 USD), the Project 21 21.01 will be available through MING’s official website and select retail partners.
