Porsche and Michelin Introduce Wet-Weather Track Tire for 911 GT3 RS

Designed to improve grip in rainy and cold conditions

Porsche and Michelin have teamed up to create a high-performance tire for 911 GT3 RS owners who want to enjoy track days in wet and cool weather. The new Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 is built to provide better control and grip in challenging conditions, allowing drivers to safely push their cars on the circuit even when the track is damp.

A Response to Customer Demand

Andreas Preuninger, Director of GT Vehicles at Porsche, said that many customers wanted a track-focused tire that would let them drive more in the spring and autumn when temperatures are lower. This new tire is Porsche’s answer to that request.

Key Features

  • Designed specifically for the 911 GT3 RS
  • Built to perform well in temperatures between 5°C and 15°C
  • Features four deep central grooves to drain water effectively
  • Uses a high-silica rubber compound for better grip on wet surfaces
  • Offers 10+ seconds faster lap times in wet conditions compared to traditional ultra-high-performance tires

Where to Get It

The Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 will be exclusively available for the 911 GT3 RS and will be sold through Porsche’s performance partner, Manthey, at the Nürburgring.
