A timepiece built for extreme motorsport conditions
IWC has revealed a special edition of its Big Pilot’s Watch, the Shock Absorber XPL Toto Wolff, just in time for the new Formula 1 season. This watch was first seen on the wrist of Toto Wolff, the CEO of the Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1 Team, and is designed to handle the intense forces of motorsport.
A Watch Inspired by F1 Performance
The watch is coated in PETRONAS green, the signature color of Mercedes-AMG Petronas F1. It features a 44mm case made from Ceratanium®, a special material that combines the lightweight strength of titanium with the scratch resistance of ceramic. The black grainy dial is paired with luminous hands for better visibility in low-light conditions.
Advanced Shock Protection
A standout feature of this timepiece is IWC’s patented SPRIN-g PROTECT® shock absorber system, first introduced in 2021. It uses a cantilever spring made from bulk metallic glass (BMG) to absorb and distribute impact forces, ensuring maximum protection for the watch’s movement.
