A blend of basketball heritage and modern fashion
adidas is bringing a fresh twist to the Jabbar Low sneakers by collaborating with Willy Chavarria and Wales Bonner. These two talented designers are adding their unique styles to this classic basketball silhouette, creating two distinct looks that mix retro vibes with modern fashion.
Willy Chavarria’s Bold Design
Fresh from his win as the CFDA 2024 American Menswear Designer of the Year, Willy Chavarria presents a striking black-and-red version of the Jabbar Low. His design features a premium black leather upper with bold red Three Stripes. Instead of the usual branding on the tongue, Chavarria adds a velcro strap with his signature embroidered, giving the sneaker a unique and modern twist. The off-white midsole keeps the look balanced and vintage-inspired.
Wales Bonner’s Luxe Touch
On the other hand, Wales Bonner, known for her previous hits with the Samba, Samba Millennium, and Superstar, brings a luxurious feel to her version of the Jabbar Low. Her design showcases a deep purple suede upper paired with a satin liner for an elegant finish. The sneaker features gilded branding on the heel and tongue, while a textured gold leather stripe adds a touch of contrast. Like Chavarria’s version, Bonner’s sneaker also uses an off-white midsole to enhance the vintage appeal.
A Sneaker Fan’s Dream
These collaborative designs by adidas, Chavarria, and Bonner offer a fresh perspective on basketball-inspired footwear, blending heritage elements with high-fashion details. Sneaker lovers can expect these stylish kicks to hit the market soon, offering a chance to own a piece of fashion-forward history.
