Jens Richter completes 132 laps in a controlled drift on ice.
Porsche has once again proven the power and precision of its Taycan GTS, setting a new Guinness World Record for the longest continuous ice drift by an electric vehicle. The record-breaking feat took place at the Porsche Arctic Center in Levi, Finland, where Porsche Experience instructor Jens Richter completed 132 laps in controlled oversteer, covering 17.503 kilometers (10.9 miles) in just 46 minutes.
A Challenging Attempt
The record attempt, held on January 14, 2025, was not without its difficulties. The 59-meter (193-foot) ice track quickly deteriorated due to the intense strain of drifting. This led to an early halt after 11 kilometers (6.8 miles) during the first attempt. However, after switching to shorter spikes on the tires and taking advantage of cooler nighttime temperatures, Richter successfully completed the challenge. His efforts surpassed the previous record of 14.809 kilometers (9.2 miles).
Precision and Control
“This achievement highlights the Taycan’s outstanding chassis and balance, showing its ability to perform even in extreme conditions,” said Jens Richter.
The event was officially monitored by Guinness World Records adjudicator Carl Saville, who confirmed the record using a professional GPS tracking system. The system recorded distance traveled, steering angle, throttle input, and G-forces to ensure the drift was continuous.
A Growing List of Records
This is the fourth Guinness World Record for the Taycan, adding to its previous records for:

✔️ Fastest speed inside an enclosed building
✔️ Longest continuous drift on dry pavement
The Porsche Taycan GTS used for the record attempt remained in stock configuration, equipped with Michelin tires featuring 1mm spikes for better grip on the ice.
This latest achievement further cements Porsche’s dominance in electric vehicle performance, proving that the Taycan is not just about speed but also precision and control in extreme conditions.
