URWERK Unveils UR-230 “Polaris” With a Unique White Ceramic Design

URWERK has introduced the UR-230 “Polaris,” the second model in its 230 series. Departing from its usual dark color palette, this watch stands out with its bright white case and innovative materials.

The 44.81mm case is crafted from a proprietary fiberglass-enhanced ceramic, giving it a fresh and modern look. This material combines woven ceramic and fiberglass layers within a polymer base, creating a shimmering white finish that changes with the light. This new design follows the UR-230 “Eagle,” which featured a carbon TPT case, marking a bold shift in the collection’s aesthetic.

The watch is powered by the UR-7.30 caliber, showcasing URWERK’s signature revolving satellite complication. The three-armed carousel displays the hour prominently as it rotates across a 120-degree section. The trapeze-shaped case extends towards the 6 o’clock position, maintaining URWERK’s futuristic and edgy style.

Co-founder Martin Frei drew inspiration for the Polaris from the white heat shields used in space exploration, referencing designs from 2001: A Space Odyssey and Apollo missions. This connection to space gives the watch an elegant yet cutting-edge appeal.

The UR-230 Polaris features a white ceramic case, a black DLC titanium caseback, and a durable vulcanized rubber strap. Priced at 150,000 CHF (around $169,008 USD), the watch is available through URWERK’s official website.
