Steph Curry’s journey from underdog to NBA legend has been nothing short of inspiring. Back in 2013, when Curry first appeared on the cover of SLAM magazine for issue #173, his stardom was still uncertain. Now, with multiple championships, MVP awards, and the title of the greatest shooter of all time, Curry and UA Curry Brand are honoring that iconic moment with two special edition sneakers.
To celebrate SLAM magazine’s 30th anniversary, the two have collaborated on exclusive colorways of Curry’s signature shoes. These designs are inspired by Curry’s first-ever cover, where SLAM labeled him the “Can’t Miss Kid.” This phrase is even featured on the sockliner of the Curry 12. The sneakers alternate between bold blue and yellow tones — the colors of the Golden State Warriors — and reflect the jersey Steph wore in the cover photo.
This isn’t just a symbolic tribute; Curry wore both pairs in preparation for the announcement, connecting his past achievements to his present success. Unfortunately for fans, the UA Curry 12 and Spawn Flotro “SLAM” colorways will remain player exclusives, reserved for Curry and those close to him.
Still, the designs are a meaningful nod to Steph’s incredible journey, reminding everyone of how far he’s come. Check out the official campaign images to see the details up close.
