OMEGA Launches Speedmaster Pilot Watch Inspired by Cockpit Design

OMEGA has added the Speedmaster Pilot to its iconic collection, drawing inspiration from the cockpit instruments of vintage aircraft. Although part of the Speedmaster family, this timepiece borrows design elements from the 1969 “Flightmaster,” a watch originally made for pilots.

Made of stainless steel, the Speedmaster Pilot has a modern case with a 40.85mm diameter and a matte finish to reduce glare. Its aluminum bezel ring features classic Speedmaster details, including the “Dot Over Ninety” and “Diagonal to Seventy” markings on the tachymeter scale.

The grained matte-black dial is paired with white Super-LumiNova on the hour and minute hands for excellent visibility in low light. Unique details include a matte-black central chronograph hand with an orange airplane tip and twin subdials with opaline centers and beveled edges.

The subdial at 3 o’clock resembles a “burn rate” indicator found in aircraft cockpits, while the 9 o’clock subdial features a small seconds display with a target-like design, a matte-yellow hand, and a blue artificial horizon motif—all inspired by aviation instruments.

Powered by the METAS-approved 9900 caliber, the watch offers a 60-hour power reserve, a column wheel, and Co-Axial escapement. Its metallic caseback features the Speedmaster Seahorse medallion and water-resistance details.

Priced at $9,500 USD, the Speedmaster Pilot is available now with a stainless steel bracelet or an additional grey NATO strap.
